2008 Art Classes
A winter and summer session hosts a myriad of classes for adults and children. Short term, inexpensive, and fun, the classes fit a busy lifestyle! Since 1994, hundreds of students have enjoyed a class in watercolor, ceramics, drawing, basketry, jewelry making and more.

Drawing Equals Dynamic Symmetry -Arvid Anderson
This two-session class is open to all beginners interested in learning about drawing and spatial relationships...contour vs. outline drawing, symmetry, proportion, linear perspective, etc. Students are asked to bring two objects for setting up a “still-life”. All other materials provided.
Friday, Feb. 1 & Friday, Feb. 8....9:30-12 Noon....Fee--$35.00
Closed Coil Basketry -Lynn Stracka Schuster
Students will learn the covered core technique for a coil basket by using “paper rope” completely covered using silk, wool or cotton yarns while also concentrating on shaping and embellishing. Lynn will bring some of her baskets for inspiration. Materials furnished.
Tuesday, Feb. 5....6-8:30 PM....Fee--$35.00
Shuffling with Scissors -Carl Mengert
Through the medium of paper Carl will demonstrate and help the students to experience new and exciting ideas about paper collage. Carl’s enthusiasm is catching and soon everyone will be snip snipping away and creating a lovely paper painting of their own. All materials provided. If you have any interesting papers and/or ideas about your piece, bring them with you. Also bring a bag lunch.
Saturday, Feb. 9....10-2:30 PM....Fee--$28.00
Creating Another Coiled Basket -Lynn Stracka Schuster
In this class, students will learn the OPEN coiling technique using Siberian iris leaves with waxed linen. The leaves are mellowed(moistened), then twisted into a "rope". This is an introductory class and each student will be supplied with enough materials to complete your basket at home. (Please bring an old bath towel to class to transport your leaves).

Membership Support Opportunites
- Volunteers are at the heart of the Miller with 150 members performing many activities including security guard, exhibit installation and much more. They pay a nominal fee that supports their educational programs.
- Sustaining Members give financial support with annual renewing gifts from $50-$25,000.
- Foundations/Grants support the operating budget.
- Exhibit Sponsors give financial assistance to help with exhibit expenses and are recognized accordingly.
- Many give bequests of art work for the Permanent Collection, leave estate gifts in their will, or donate appreciated securities or IRA's.
Community Outreach
The Museum is dedicated to community outreach and sponsors the Master Artist Picture Program for elementary students and senior citizens along with regularly scheduled docent led school tours to the Museum.
Museum Shop
A small gift shop filled with books, jewelry, kids' items, beautiful cards, ceramics, and more is sure to please the Museum goer with something to remember their visit. Postcards and cards from the Permanent Collection, Gerhard CF Miller books (9) and reproductions have been popular keepsakes.
